-Early Life

Lavern Spicer was born in the town of St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica, on October 3, 1961. Her parents, George and Violet Spicer, were both schoolteachers. Lavern was the second of three children; her older sister, Beverly, and younger brother, Gregory, would both go on to become teachers as well. The Spicer family was close-knit and supportive, and Lavern’s parents instilled in their children a love of learning.

Lavern Spicer attended the St. Ann’s Bay Primary School, where she was an excellent student. She then went on to the St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School for Girls, one of the best secondary schools in Jamaica. At St. Hilda’s, Spicer excelled in her studies and was elected head girl in her final year. After graduating from high school, she won a scholarship to study at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica campus.

At the University of the West Indies, Spicer initially planned to study medicine. However, she soon realized that her true passion was for teaching. She switched her major to education and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1983. After graduation, she began her career as a teacher at the St. Ann’s Bay Primary School, where she had once been a student.

-Career

As we all know, having a successful career can be a very rewarding experience. It can provide us with a sense of accomplishment, a sense of purpose, and a sense of satisfaction.

However, it can also be a very challenging and stressful experience. There are a lot of demands placed on our time and energy, and it can be difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

If you’re feeling stressed out or burnt out, it’s important to take some time for yourself and to focus on your own wellbeing. Here are some tips for maintaining a healthy career:

1. Make time for yourself

It’s important to make time for yourself, even if it’s just a few minutes each day. Dedicate some time to do something that you enjoy, such as reading, going for a walk, or listening to music. This will help you relax and rejuvenate.

2. Set boundaries

It’s important to set boundaries between work and home. When you’re at work, focus on work, and when you’re at home, focus on relaxing and spending time with loved ones. This will help you avoidburnout.

3. Take breaks

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a break. Step away from your work and take some time to clear your head. This will help you come back to your work refreshed and ready to focus.

4. Prioritize your health

Your health should always be a priority. Make sure to schedule time for exercise, eat healthy meals, and get enough sleep. This will help you maintain your energy levels and stay focused at work.

5. Talk to someone

If you’re feeling stressed, talk to someone who can help. This could be a friend, family member, therapist, or career coach. Talking to someone can help you gain clarity and find solutions to your challenges.

-Death

Death is one of those topics that we don’t like to think about, but it’s an inevitable part of life. And while it’s impossible to predict when or how death will come, there are some things we can do to make the process a little less scary.

One of the most important things you can do is to plan ahead. This means making sure you have a will in place so that your loved ones know your wishes. It also means having an honest conversation with your family about your end-of-life wishes, such as whether you want to be resuscitated or not.

It’s also important to take care of your physical health. This means eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and getting regular check-ups. By taking care of your body, you’re giving yourself the best chance possible of a long and healthy life.

And finally, don’t forget to take care of your mental health. This means finding healthy ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression. When we take care of our mental health, we’re better equipped to deal with the challenges life throws our way, including death.
